Nemo Arts Board
The governance of Nemo Arts is through a board of dedicated trustees. The directors have legal responsibilities both as company directors and charity trustees. The aim is for the board to represent a wide cross-section of mental health and arts sector interests across Glasgow.
Chair – Michel Syrett
Journalist and mental health researcher. Michel is a founding member of the Lived Experience Research Consortium at The Mental Health Foundation and Chair of Age in Mind, a research project funded by See Me that is examining mental health stigma in the case of older people.
He is also Mental Health Champion of the mental health service provider Action in Mind and the author of 20 books and reports on business and mental health topics.
Vice Chair – Beth MacMaster
Beth is the Children and Gender-Based Violence Justice Lead within the Criminal Justice Division in the Scottish Government. Previously she was the National Coordinator for Independent Prison Monitoring at HM Inspectorate of Prisons for Scotland, developing and implementing a new system for monitoring treatment, conditions and human rights in Scotland’s prisons. Beth has worked in the justice system for over 12 years, across the community and prisons. Her background is in applied social research.
Treasurer – Julie Cameron
Julie has 20 years’ experience in public mental health and is committed to promoting human rights and improving the health and wellbeing of vulnerable groups who experience inequalities, stigma and discrimination. As the Associate Director for MHF in Scotland Julie oversees strategic development and operational delivery.
Trustee – David Walker
David Walker is an Assistant Chief Officer with the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership. In his career spanning over 30 years he has accumulated a rich range of experience and expertise in the planning and delivery of health and care services across west central Scotland
Trustee – Monica McGeever
Monica is an HM Inspector with Education Scotland. She has previously worked with children and young people with additional support needs and has over 25 years experience in education.
